Wind power developer Vindkraft Ukraina has placed an order with Vestas for supply of 21MW turbines for wind farms in Beregovaya and Stavki in the Kherson region of Ukraine.
Vestas will supply as well as install seven V112-3.0 MW turbines. It is also responsible for the commissioning of the project, scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2013.
The two wind plants in Beregovaya and Stavki will produce over 70GWh annually and help Ukraine in expanding its wind energy sources by producing enough electricity to meet the consumption of 15,000 households.
Vindkraft managing director Carl Sturen said, "We partnered with Vestas in 2011 to develop our projects Novorossiske 1 and Novorossiske 2, both equipped with V112-3.0 MW.
"For our new wind power plants Beregovaya and Stavki we once again choose Vestas because of their leadership in the wind energy business and our belief that they have the necessary technology, experience and reliability to develop a young market like Ukraine."
Vestas Central Europe president Thomas Richterich said the third order from Vindkraft contributes to strengthening the company’s position as one of the market leaders in the Ukrainian market, and supports its strategy placing a solid footprint on this important emerging market.
