Wind turbine manufacturer Nordex will install eight multi-megawatt turbines at the Nyby-li wind farm in Finland.

The project, which is located in the Ii region is in proximity to the Gulf of Bothnia in the north-western part of the country, is owned by Finnish wealth management company Taaleritehdas Private Equity Funds.

The installation is part of the framework agreement that Nordex signed with Taaleritehdas in June 2012 for 111 turbines. The first project in the agreement went online earlier this year with nine turbines at the Honkajoki wind farm.

Nordex will install N117/2400 turbines to produce 78GWh of wind energy annually. Housing 120m high towers, the farm receives winds with speeds of over 7m per second.

Taaleritehdas Private Equity Funds director of wind energy business Taamir Fareed said the Nordex N117 is the optimal solution for their second wind farm due to its large rotor swept area and high tower.

"We are very happy to continue our co-operation with Nordex with a new wind farm installation since Nordex was able to create confidence and good basis for its operations in Finland by outperforming in our first wind farm in Honkajoki," Fareed added.

Nordex will provide its maintenance services to the Nybi-Ii farm turbines through its newly opened service point. It will also service the Generation Delta turbines to be installed at the port of Raahe by the end of 2013.

The first service point is located near the Honkajoki project in south-west Finland.
