Spanish developer Gestamp has selected China-based Trina Solar to supply photovoltaic modules for two solar projects in South Africa with a combined capacity of 30MW.
The two projects are being located in the Northern Cape Province – a 20MW solar farm in the town of Prieska and a 10MW facility, at De Aar.
Trina Solar will supply multicrystalline PC05 series modules that offer 15% efficiency and can generate up to 245W power even during low light conditions.
The modules have in-built ability to bear snow loads of up to 5,400Pa and wind loads of up to 2,400Pa.
Gestamp Solar CEO Jorge Barredo said, "Gestamp Solar has been working on the development of projects with Trina Solar since the early days of the European photovoltaic industry because, as well as the excellent quality of their products, they have always been reliable suppliers."
The panels have a 10-year workmanship warranty and 25-year linear power output warranty.
