Diversified Indian business group Jakson Power Solutions has outlined its plans to commission 300MW of solar power projects in India by 2016.
The company commissioned the first of its independent power project in the state of Rajasthan with an installed capacity of 20MW.
Located in the Jodhpur District of the state of Rajasthan, the facility was developed with an investment of INR2bn ($36.58m) under the Phase 1 of the government’s Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM).
NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam inked a 25-year power purchase agreement with Jakson Power Solutions to procure the electricity generated by the project.
The company has also acquired an additional 250 acres of land at the same site with plans to further develop solar farms and expand the capacity to 100MW.
Jakson Power Solutions EPC, a unit of Jakson Power Solutions, signed EPC contracts for a combined capacity of 40MW solar power at the same site.

By GlobalDataJakson Power Solutions joint managing director Sundeep Gupta was quoted by The Economic Times as saying that the company now awaits the next stage of biddings to scale up capacity and improve its market position in the sector.
"In 2012, we forayed into solar power sector and in short span of one year Jakson has ventured into solar power generation, solar EPC, solar products and solar power solutions," Gupta said.
The Jodhpur plant, built across an area of 100 acres, is the largest single location solar power farm in India based on crystalline cell technology, the company claimed.
Execution of the project, from land purchase to commissioning, was completed in just 10 months with the project is expected to generate 100 permanent jobs for the region.
