Renewable energy solutions provider Fonroche has selected Schneider Electric as a partner for a 40MW solar power project in the city of Humacao, Puerto Rico.
Under the partnership agreement, Schneider Electric will provide PSS/E Modeling solutions, power plant controller, Conext Core XC inverters, Conext control monitoring, string combiner boxes, and a medium voltage capacitor bank for the project.
Fonroche chief engineering & procurement manager Enmanuel Boillos said that Schneider Electric’s solutions and services – ranging from modeling tools to inverter substations – helped Fonroche navigate the design process for this solar field and enabled the company to meet the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority’s minimum technical requirements.
The PSS/E models the entire performance of a PV plant – including ramp up and ramp down control, over- and under-frequency, over- and under-voltage, and dynamic power factor correction.
The model will show the inverters and their behaviour as well as the behaviour of the battery energy storage system.
With the help of this modeling system, Schneider Electric will be able derive the final solar system design and component selection.
The Power Plant Controller solution takes commands from the utility and sends commands out to the inverters and battery energy storage system.
Schneider Electric vice president Rudy Wodrich said that the company is proud to partner with Fonroche on the design and supply of equipment for this solar farm in Puerto Rico.
"We are dedicated to driving the adoption of renewable energy solutions across the globe and are excited to enable a greener Puerto Rico through our relationship with Fonroche," Wodrich added.
