Italy-based renewable energy project developer Falck Renewables has opened a 15MW wind farm in UK.
The wind farm, which is located near Nutberry Hill in Scotland, features six Nordex wind turbines and is expected to generate around 54GWh of renewable energy per year which will meet the demand of 12,500 households and will save some 23,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
The full commissioning is expected to be completed by the end of November 2013.
Falck Renewables CEO Piero Manzoni said that with the launch of Nutberry wind farm and the authorisation of Assel Valley, the company’s growth path continues, as well as its positioning among the leading pure player in the renewable energy sector in the UK, in line with the business plan.
"The pipeline of projects we are implementing envisages, between the end of 2013 and 2015, a further increase of our presence in the country in various technologies and responds to the diversification strategy aiming to seize the best opportunities at international level," Manzoni added.
In addition, Falck Renewables announced that it has reached 731MW of total installed capacity, of which 288MW in the UK.

By GlobalDataThe company has also received approval to begin the construction of the Assel Valley wind farm, located near Girvan, in south-western Scotland.
The wind farm will have ten turbines and will have an installed capacity of up to a maximum of 30MW.
