Italy-based renewable energy developer Enel Green Power has completed construction of three new wind farms in Romania.

Located in the Dobrogea region of Romania, the three wind farms have a total installed capacity of 206 MW and were connected to the national grid, signalling the commencement of commercial operations.

The Elcomex EOL (Zephir I), Targusor (Zephir II) and Gebelesis wind farms will produce around 560 million kWh a year at full production levels and expand Enel’s renewable footprint in the region.

The Elcomex EOL wind farm comprises 52 wind turbines of 2.3MW capacity to produce 340 million kWh of energy per annum, while the Targusor farm features 26 turbines of 2.3MW capacity each.

Construction costs of the three farms combined stood at €340m.

Enel currently has a fully operational installed wind capacity of 500MW in Romania with plans to enhance it further.
