Basin Electric Power Cooperative has agreed to buy a total of 278MW power from two Infinity Wind Power projects in western North Dakota, US.
Under the terms of the agreement, Infinity will develop a 106MW Sunflower wind project in Morton County near Hebron and a 172MW Antelope Hills wind project in Mercer County near Golden Valley.
Both the projects are expected to be operational by the end of 2015.
Basin Electric CEO and general manager Andrew M. Serri said that this new wind generation will increase the renewable portion of Basin Electric’s generating portfolio, which includes waste heat, to more than 1GW.
"This is a result of a request for proposal we issued last June," Serri added.
"We received very favorable offers from these developers. These projects will fit nicely into our existing generation portfolio."
