Barton Malow has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by Michigan-based natural gas and electricity provider Consumers Energy for the 105MW Cross Winds Energy Park in Tuscola County, Michigan.

Subject to approval by the Michigan Public Service Commission, the contract includes designing, engineering and constructing the park’s turbine foundations, access roads, an operations and maintenance building; installing the park’s 62 wind turbines; and building the infrastructure that connects the turbines to the electrical grid.

Consumers Energy vice president of major projects and construction Jim Pomaranski said, "Hiring a well-respected Michigan company to help us generate more clean energy for customers makes sense for our company and for the state.

"The Pure Michigan Business Connect initiative is providing quality products and services at competitive prices. In turn, that spending is funding real projects, creating real jobs and making a real difference for Michigan." Pomaranski added.

The construction work on the project will commence in 2013 and it will create about 150 construction jobs. When completed in late 2014, the project would generate more than $160m in direct and indirect income to Michigan.
