Thermion, a clean energy power producer, has completed the purchase of a 171 MW self-supply wind project, called Los Molinos, from Mexican power developer Comexhidro for an undisclosed amount.

This wind project will be constructed in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas.

The deal is in addition to Thermion’s other acquisitions –  117MW wind project and 48MW solar project – that completed last year. three.

With the latest acquisition, Thermion’s project capacity in Mexico to 348MW.

Construction of all facilities is expected to begin between the fourth quarter of this fiscal year and the first quarter of 2019.

Thermion focuses on the self-supply projects that can be competitive, and provide stable priced power to its customers for two decades. This helps customers to stop becoming vulnerable to the volatility of long-term electricity prices, and removing exposure to carbon-based fuel prices.

Thermion’s 348MW of solar and wind projects will cut down around 40,000 metric tons of CO2 equivalent from the environment annually, which is equal to equivalent to eliminating around 125,000 cars from the road.

Thermion co-founder and chairman  Alberto Garza Santos said: “We are delighted to have completed the acquisition of our second wind project in the state of Tamaulipas, where we aim to develop, build and operate one of the most relevant wind farm complexes in America to deliver reliable renewable energy to our pipeline of corporate customers throughout the country.”

Thermion CEO Michael Bax said:Expansion and portfolio diversification is not our only focus; our team is focused on working with our customers to understand their current and future energy procurement challenges, from efficient use of energy to electric vehicles.  Our aim is to be their long-term energy partner and adviser, offering sustainable low carbon solutions to all their energy needs.”
