Wind manufacturer Senvion has won a turbine delivery contract for wpd offshore’s 111MW Nordergründe offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
Situated in water depth of 10m within the 12-sea mile zone, the offshore facility will have 18 of Senvion’s 6.2M126 models.
The project, presently under development, is expected to be completed within autumn next year.
Senvion CEO Andreas Nauen said: "This project will create a lot of value locally.
"Thanks to the clear compensation provisions of the EEG (Renewable Energy Sources Act) our clients will be able to plan reliably, but the German offshore sector will soon need clear indicators for the years after 2019. The preparations for EEG 3.0 are the next step, and must start already this year."
Located nearly 40km to the northwest of Bremerhaven, the facility is expected to provide enough power for 70,000 German homes annually.

By GlobalDataLocal companies Ambau, BVT, NSW and Bilfinger have been selected for the foundation, substation deliveries, internal cabling and installation works at the Nordergründe project, respectively.
Along with Nordergründe, wpd is also developing the 288MW Butendiek wind project in the North Sea.
