Phoenix Solar AG’s Singapore based subsidiary Phoenix Solar Pte, in joint venture (JV) with WBHO, has secured a deal to design a new 39.5MWp photovoltaic (PV) power plant to be located near Perth, West Australia.
Under the deal, Phoenix Solar will also be responsible for the offshore procurement of all the components of the plant.
Construction of the facility will be completed in three stages and will be managed and carried out by WBHO.
The project is expected to receive notice to proceed (NTP) next month.
Once completed, the plant will be owned by WestGen, a clean energy development company with power projects in Western Australia.
The plant will feature 1,500v, single axis tracking, and mono-crystalline passivated emitter rear cell (PERC) modules.

By GlobalDataThe energy to be produced by the plant will be used by West Australian energy provider Kleenheat under a power purchase agreement.
Phoenix Solar Asia Pacific senior vice-president Mark Argar said: “With this large project, Phoenix Solar is not only reentering the market of ground-mounted utility-scale solar PV power plants in its Asia/Pacific region but we also make a big step onto the Australian market which we see as an emerging solar PV market with multi GW scale annual build out expected in the coming years.”
In March this year, Phoenix Solar announced that its Turkish subsidiary was selected by a consortium led by Akfen Renewable Energy to build 11.2MWp PV plant in Amasya in Northern Turkey.
As part of the agreement, Phoenix Solar has to offer engineering, procurement and project management services including supervising the construction, which is set to be completed in September this year.
