JinkoSolar US general manager Nigel Cockroft said: "We are very pleased to work with the Clenera and Swinerton team’s again on a second US project and one of the largest solar projects in Arizona. Our commitment to our product’s quality and outstanding service has propelled us to collaborate with these industry leaders."

The construction of the Avalon Solar project is scheduled to commence during the second quarter of 2014, on 500 acres of land adjacent to the Mission Mine Complex, a location selected in line with Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) program to develop renewable energy projects on abandoned land, including old mining sites.

Besides creating over 300 jobs opportunities, the project will facilitate revenues of nearly $4m in local property tax and saves 53,000 tons of carbon dioxide.

Tucson Electric Power Company will purchase power output from the solar plant in a bid to achieve 15% renewable energy generation by 2025 as per the Arizona state mandate.
