Eltek has secured a contract from Alstom Grid to supply advanced power systems for the 900MW DolWin3 offshore wind energy project in Germany.
Scope of the contract includes supply of secure power to protection and control equipment at the project’s onshore high voltage DC (HVDC) substation at Dörpen West in Heede.
The substation transfers energy produced by offshore wind turbines in the North Sea to the German grid.
The contract will also require Eltek to supply DC power supplies, inverters, batteries and related services.
Eltek Industrial vice president Lars Dousa said: "Our teams successfully offered the most recent and highest efficiency power supply technology available in the market, which provided clear advantages in terms of technical features, cost efficiency and reliability."
The DolWin3 project, which is anticipated to start operations in 2017, is the third connection at the DolWin wind farm group in the North Sea.

By GlobalDataAlstom Grid secured the DolWin3 project from transmission system operator TenneT. The company will deliver and construct both the onshore and offshore converter stations, as well as the connecting cable systems.
The project will use direct current technology to deliver the energy generated offshore along an 83 km sea cable to the mainland.
Power will then be transported an additional 79km by underground cable to the converter station.
