Dominion Virginia Power intends to start construction for multiple large-scale solar projects in Virginia, which will generate 400MW of renewable power for the US state.

The company has plans to invest nearly $700m for the new projects.

The solar facilities will be developed in co-ordination with other Virginia based companies, and are likely to be operational by 2020.

Dominion Virginia Power is presently looking for possible construction sites for the projects.

The firm is evaluating slope and terrain of land and other electrical and environmental factors for the probable project developments.

Previously, Dominion Virginia Power had applied to the Virginia State Corporation Commission for a 20MW solar project in the state, which will be developed near Remington Power Station in Fauquier County.

The firm is awaiting approvals from the authorities for the Remington plant as well, beside for the 400MW solar developments.
