Basin Electric Power Cooperative, a US-based wholesale electric generation company has entered into power purchase agreement (PPA) with renewable project developer Campbell County Wind Farm for 99MW wind energy.

As per the agreement executed under the consultation of RedWind Consulting, CCWF will supply Basin Electric the wind energy from the project located in South Dakota, US.

The PPA is one of three wind projects of aggregate capacity of 367MW that Basin Electric shortlisted from 5000MW project bids that the company received after calling in Request for Proposal (RFP) earlier in June 2013.

Dakota Plains Energy principal and CCWF project developer Rob Johnson said that the agreement was a significant achievement for CCWF and RedWind Consulting was instrumental in the success.

"RedWind Consulting worked tirelessly to secure an off-take arrangement with Basin Electric Power Cooperative," added Johnson.

RedWind Consulting chief manager Dan Rustowicz said they are delighted to have leveraged their extensive experience in wind energy development to help Campbell County Wind Farm win this agreement and look forward to continuing to work on behalf of CCWF to bring this project to successful launch.

"Based on our growing pipeline of renewable energy initiatives, the industry is clearly in a robust growth mode, which will be further boosted when Congress, hopefully, extends the federal production tax credits," added Rustowicz.

RedWind Consulting is currently undertaking advisory services on behalf of the project, with commercial operations scheduled on or before 31 December 2015.
