The new agreement establishes a cooperative framework between the two companies. It covers various aspects of project development ranging from bid preparation to engineering, manufacturing, procurement and sales.
The initiative seeks to combine Kanadevia’s water electrolysis stack technology, which underpins its hydrogen production systems, with BEC’s knowledge of the local market and construction expertise.
According to Kanadevia, the collaboration is designed to meet demand for solutions in Oman’s expanding low-carbon fuel sector.
Kanadevia is currently constructing a mass production facility for water electrolysis stacks in Tsuru City, Yamanashi Prefecture in Japan.
The company aims to lower production costs and enhance supply capabilities by manufacturing at scale.
Kanadevia will also invest in a hydrogen fund and is pursuing various strategies as it seeks to expand its presence in the hydrogen market.
In Oman, Kanadevia is already involved in methanation projects that use hydrogen to produce e-methane.
The company had executed a contract with Oman LNG to perform technical verification and engineering work for the development of what it describes as one of the world’s largest commercial methanation plants.
The plant is planned to convert captured carbon dioxide into synthetic methane using green hydrogen.
The partnership with BEC will allow the company to respond to the policies and expectations of Japan and Oman, to broaden its activities in decarbonisation fields, and to contribute to a sustainable energy-focused society.
Kanadevia’s latest agreement with BEC follows its ongoing efforts to strengthen its global position in green hydrogen and related technologies.
The company has reported continued activity in both its domestic and international hydrogen business segments.
