Group14 Technologies has closed a €150m ($167m) Series D equity extension to support its international manufacturing expansion, including a new production facility in Sagunto, Spain.
The US-based company, which supplies advanced silicon battery materials, stated the facility in Spain will have an initial production capacity of 10GW-hours (GWh) and marks its first large-scale manufacturing site in Europe.

The expansion increases Group14’s total near-term manufacturing capacity to 40GWh.
This figure includes an operational 10GWh module in Sangju, Korea, designated BAM-3, and two modules in Moses Lake, Washington, known as BAM-2, which together will provide 20GWh of capacity when they are expected to enter production in 2027.
Group14 has also operated a commercial-pilot site, BAM-1, in Woodinville, Washington since 2021, supplying its SCC55 battery material to more than 150 customers.
By choosing Spain, which is recognised as Europe’s second-largest automotive manufacturing country, Group14 aims to place its battery materials close to significant European automotive supply chains.
The company highlighted that the new site would reinforce its operational presence across North America, Europe, and Asia.
Group14 CEO and co-founder Rick Luebbe said: “To truly transform the energy economy, battery material producers must be located where the batteries are made.
“Our expansion into Spain reflects our vision: staying nimble, building near key customer hubs, and maintaining secure, localised supply chains.
“The launch of BAM-4 gives us the springboard to accelerate our European footprint while simultaneously propelling our global growth trajectory across the US and Asia.”
According to the company, the €150m investment will not only support its expansion in Europe but also underpin plans to increase capacity worldwide and meet demand from automotive, datacentre, consumer electronics, aerospace, and defence sectors.
Group14 stated that its production innovations are backed by over 200 patents and that its SCC55 material is already in use in products including smartphones, hypercars, drones, and electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicles.
The company has outlined its intention to expand its manufacturing capacity to hundreds of gigawatt-hours over the next decade.
