Entr, the consultancy branch of Aker Solutions, has been engaged by Net Zero Atlantic to carry out an offshore wind transmission routing and technology study in Canada.

The project forms part of the Atlantic Canada Offshore Wind Readiness Program, which focuses on informing offshore wind development in Nova Scotia and evaluating possible electricity exports to Canadian and US markets.

Entr will conduct the study alongside C-CORE, a Canadian company that specialises in risk-based advisory services for challenging marine environments.

The study’s purpose is to examine planning-level offshore transmission routing options and technology configurations for future offshore wind initiatives.

According to Entr, the work extends the division’s advisory and engineering experience into Canada’s emerging offshore wind sector, marking its first contract in this market.

Aker Solutions Entr director Stephen Penton said: “This contract represents an exciting entry point for Entr into the Canadian offshore wind market.

“Working together with C-CORE, we will combine local knowledge with international offshore wind and transmission expertise to help identify solutions that can support future offshore wind development in Nova Scotia and inform the assessment of potential clean power export opportunities.”

The project is being managed from Aker Solutions’ office in St. John’s, Canada, with additional support from the company’s teams in Oslo, Norway.

Work is scheduled to conclude in January 2027, when study findings are expected to be available to the public.

Entr provides technical and commercial expertise to support clients facing energy sector challenges.

Together with C-CORE, Entr will assess factors involved in the development of offshore wind transmission systems, aiming to contribute to regional renewable energy planning and the potential for future electricity exports.

In July 2026, Entr and its wholly owned subsidiary, Unitech Power Systems, secured a contract from Nadara to carry out electrical infrastructure studies for the 1.8GW Bellrock Offshore Wind Farm in Scotland.
