Description

The project was developed by Aurora Power Solutions and Sirius Solar PV Project One. STANLIB and H1 Holdings are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 60% and 40% respectively.

Sirius/Aurora Solar PV Park is a ground-mounted solar project which is spread over an area of 250 hectares.

The project generates 217GWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 40,000 households, offsetting 180,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

Development status

The project construction commenced in 2018 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in February 2020.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Eskom Holdings SOC under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years.

Contractors involved

Scatec was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the solar PV power project.

BYD was selected as the supplier of the PV modules for the project. The company provided 277,500 modules each with 310W of nameplate capacity.

SMA Solar Technology supplied 37 of its Sunny Central 2200 inverters to the project site.

Scatec is the O&M contractor for the solar PV power project.
