Description

The project was developed by Covanta Holding and Veolia Environmental Services (UK). Covanta Holding, Green Investment Group and Veolia Environmental Services (UK) are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 40%, 40% and 20% respectively.

The project supplies enough clean energy to power 112,500 households.

The process of combustion has been adopted in this combined heat and power (CHP) project to release the stored energy from the feed. Industrial waste and municipal solid waste are used as a feedstock to power the project.

The project construction commenced in 2019 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in January 2022.

Contractors involved

Hitachi Zosen Inova was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the biopower project.

Doosan Skoda Power was selected as the steam turbine supplier for the project. The company provided 1 turbine with 67MW nameplate capacity.

Hitachi Zosen Inova supplied steam boiler for the project. The boiler installed at the site has a capacity of 82TPH. The temperature witnessed inside the boiler is around 440°C. The steam is pressurized inside the boiler at 75bar.

Covanta Holding is the O&M contractor for the project, commencing from the year 2022.
