Description
The project is being developed by Nam Ngum 3 Power. Chaleun Sekong Energy, EGAT International, Gulf Energy Development and Electricite du Laos are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 31%, 25%, 24% and 20% respectively.
The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 1,407 million cubic meter. The gross head of the project will be 340m. The project is expected to generate 2,345 GWh of electricity.
The hydro power project consists of 3 turbines, each with 160MW nameplate capacity.
The project will have 3 electric generators installed at the project site. The generator capacity is likely to be 260 MVA.
Development status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2015. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2026.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project will be sold to Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand under a power purchase agreement.
Contractors involved
Sinohydro is expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the hydro power project.
