Description

The project was developed by Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor and Evermore Energy. The project is currently owned by Evermore Energy with a stake of 17.24%, Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor and Green Investment Group.

The project supplies enough clean energy to power 30,000 households, offsetting 3,700,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

The process of combustion has been adopted in this combined heat and power (CHP) project to release the stored energy from the feed. Wood waste which is a kind of wood by-product is used as a feedstock to power the project.

Development status

The project got commissioned in December 2015.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Power NI Energy under a power purchase agreement.

Contractors involved

Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the biopower project.

Alstom was selected as the steam turbine supplier for the project. The company supplied Geared Reaction Turbine model turbines for the project.

Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor is the O&M contractor for the project for a period of 15 years.
