Description
The project is being developed by Dhafrah PV2 Energy. Abu Dhabi National Energy, Abu Dhabi Future Energy, EDF Renewables and Jinko Power Technology are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 40%, 20%, 20% and 20% respectively.
Al Dhafra Solar PV Park is a ground-mounted solar project which is planned over 20 km².
The project is expected to supply enough clean energy to power 160,000 households, to offset 2,400,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year. The project cost is expected to be around $1,000m.
The solar power project consists of 4,000,000 modules.
Development status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2020. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2023.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project will be sold to Emirates Water and Electricity under a power purchase agreement for a period of 30 years from 2022. The offtake capacity is expected to be 1,500MW.

China Machinery Engineering is expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the solar PV power project.
Sungrow Power Supply is likely to be the supplier of its SG250HX inverters to the project site.
The project will utilise trackers likely to be supplied by Arctech Solar Holding.
