Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that RTX filed the most 3D printing patents within the power industry in Q4 2023. The company filed 25 3D printing-related patents in the quarter, compared with 20 in the previous quarter. It was followed by US Department of Energy with 6 3D printing patent filings, Electricite de France (6 filings), and Siemens (2 filings) in Q4 2023.
Patenting activity was driven by the US with a 44% share of total patent filings
The largest share of 3D printing related patent filings in the power industry in Q4 2023 was in the US with 44%, followed by China (10%) and Japan (5%). The share represented by the US was 10% higher than the 34% share it accounted for in Q3 2023.
