Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems is geared up to invest around €10m in its blades factory in Taranto, Italy.
The investment will be used to launch V112-3.0 MW blade production at the facility, while hiring 30 employees from its nacelles plant for the Taranto facility.
Commenting on the investment,Vestas chief operating officer Jean-Marc Lechêne said that the company is pleased to launch the V112-3.0 MW blade production line in Taranto and a related €10m investment.
"This will allow Vestas to bring our latest technology to the Taranto plant, which will benefit our customers, the entire supply chain and the local community through employment possibilities for the nacelles plant personnel," Lechêne added.
According to the Ministry for Economic Development, Vestas has agreed to offer an opportunity to the employees from nacelles plant, through an adequate professional requalification.
In addition, the company is planning to hire eight employees in sales, installation, and service unit of Vestas Italia, while hiring another 30 nacelles employees in its facilities across the UK, Spain, Denmark, or Germany.
