Bord Gáis has selected Vestas for a contract to supply wind turbines for the second phase of Lisheen wind farm located in Ireland.
Vestas will provide 12 wind turbines of type 12 V90-2.0 MW each with a producing capacity of 2MW for the 24MW second phase of the Lisheen wind farm which already has 18 turbines of the same type.
The company secured the 24MW order following the official journal of the European Union tender that it submitted in November 2011.
Vestas Northern Europe president Klaus Steen Mortensen said the company is focused on wind technology and will ensure that its customer gets best return on investment in each wind project.
"We are very pleased to announce the 2nd phase of the Lisheen Wind Farm project," Mortensen added.
The company will deliver the turbines in the first quarter of 2013 for the project which is run the contractor Balfour Beatty Ireland.

By GlobalDataThe phase 2 is an extension to the existing capacity of 36MW of the Lisheen wind farm which was constructed in 2009 and is performing above the contractual levels. Together, the two phases will expand the project’s electricity generating capacity from 36MW to 60MW.
