Toshiba has won an order through its Chinese subsidiary Toshiba Hydro Power for delivering four units of hydro turbine and generator for the 308MW Upper Yeywa hydropower facility in Myanmar.

The firm is expected to deliver the 77MW hydro power units for the project by March 2016.

The facility is located on the Myitnge River to the northeast of Mandalay in the Kyaukme District of the Northern Shan State.

Myanmar Electric Power Enterprise is the developer for the hydro power generating facility, which is likely to be commissioned by 2018.

Zhejiang Orient Engineering will be responsible for engineering, procurement and construction of the project.

Earlier, Lahmeyer International – Stucky Consortium had been selected as consultant for the project by the south-east Asian country.
