
REpower Systems, a subsidiary of Suzlon Group, has entered a supply contract with RWE Innogy to provide turbines for a 332MW Innogy Nordsee 1 offshore wind farm based in the German North Sea approximately 40km north of the island of Juist, Germany.
The company will provide 54 units of type REpower 6M turbines each with an energy generating capacity of 6.15MW.

Each individual turbine is capable of producing 6,150kW of electricity which is enough to power over 6,000 households and together all the 54 turbines can generate sufficient electricity to meet the energy requirements of more than 324,000 households.
REpower Systems CEO Andreas Nauen said RWE Innogy has selected the company’s turbines for the project.
"This contract is an important signal for the German offshore wind industry," Nauen added.
Suzlon Group chairman Tulsi Tanti said the company has signed a contract with RWE Innogy.

The company will manufacture the turbines in Bremerhaven, Germany and transport them to the project site.
Three REpower 6M prototypes were installed in 2009 at the onshore Ellhöft wind farm while the turbines were first installed offshore for the Belgian Thornton Bank wind project in 2012.
