
REpower Systems, a subsidiary of Suzlon Grou, has received an order from Meridian Energy to supply turbines for a 131MW Mt Mercer wind farm located about 30km south of Ballarat, in the state of Victoria.
As per the order REpower will provide, install, and commission 64 units of type MM92 wind turbines for the project, each with a generating capacity of 2.05MW to produce clean energy in the region.

The total capital cost of the project is estimated to be around A$260m ($266.2m).
REpower Australia CEO Chris Judd said, "Being awarded this contract during our ’10 years in Australia’ celebrations underscores REpower Australia’s longstanding commitment to the Australian wind energy industry and the opportunities presented by the renewable energy target which will deliver around 7 GW of new wind generating capacity in Australia by
2020."
Australia wind energy sector is being regarded as a key market to grow, according to REpower Systems SE CEO Andreas Nauen.
