Suzlon Group has bagged an order from the Gujarat Mineral Development Corp (GMDC), to supply wind turbines for its 50MW wind project in Gujarat, India.

The Rs 3.05bn ($57.4m) project will use 24 units of Suzlon’s S95 – 2.1 MW wind turbines, featuring doubly-fed induction generator technology.
Suzlon Group chairman Tulsi Tanti said the company is happy to partner with GMDC in driving forward their commitment to sustainable energy while contributing to the development of Gujarat’s low carbon economy.
"The state of Gujarat is blessed with immense wind potential and we are proud of our contribution in harnessing this potential," said Tanti.
The project is expected to be commissioned by the third quarter of 2013.

By GlobalDataGMDC’s current installation capacity stands at 100.50MW and with the new order the total capacity will increase to 150.50MW.
Suzlon has provided 60MW of the total capacity of GMDC which is operating at sites across the state of Gujarat.
