The farm will employ 29 2.3MW turbines supplied by Enercon to produce 184GWh electricty per annum.
Scottish Minister for Energy, Enterprise & Tourism Fergus Ewing remarked that the commencement of construction on the Berry Burn Wind Farm is a positive development for both the council of Moray as well as Scotland as a whole.
"During construction, up to 50 jobs will be created for local people, and once the wind farm is operational a fund will be established to ensure the local community shares in the financial benefits it will bring," Ewing said.
Statkraft President and CEO Christian Tønnesen added, "We are very pleased with the decision to invest in Berry Burn Wind Farm and for Statkraft to be able to continue to contribute to the realization of Scotland’s and the UK’s ambitious renewable energy objectives."
