Siemens Energy’s Canadian arm, Siemens Canada, has agreed for a 10-year wind power service contract at Port Alma and Chatham Kent wind energy plants owned by Kruger Energy in Ontario.

Located on the shores of Lake Erie, the wind plants comprise a 100MW capacity each and when combined, electricity generated at both wind plans can power about 60,000 households in Ontario every year.

The agreement stipulates the service and maintenance of 48 SWT-2.3-93 and 40 SWT-2.3-101 wind turbines at Port Alma and Chatham Kent.

As per the contract, the company will also provide scope for blade modernization with Siemens’ Power Curve Upgrade for 44 SWT-2.3-93 units of Port Alma and four SWT-2.3-93 units of Chatham Kent.

The company’s agreement with Kruger Energy also covers an availability guarantee as an extension to the existing four-year service agreement for Port Alma and to the existing two-year service agreement for the Chatham Kent wind energy plant.

Siemens Energy, energy service division’s service renewables CEO Tim Holt said that as Siemens was the original equipment supplier for the wind turbines, with the experience, the company would offer flexible, reliable and cost effective solutions at both plants for optimum wind turbine performance throughout their lifecycle.
