Siemens Energy Management and VBMS (UK) will form a joint venture to supply the electrical transmission system for the proposed Navitus Bay wind park in the UK, after being selected as preferred supplier.
Navitus Bay Development is developing the project which is a 50-50 joint venture between Eneco Wind UK and EDF Energy Renewables.

The wind farm will be located off the Dorset and Hampshire coasts, to the west of the Isle of Wight.
Under the terms of agreement, Siemens will be responsible for the designing, supply and installation of the onshore and offshore high voltage substations for the project.
VBMS will design, supply and install the export cable, both at offshore and onshore locations.
Once completed, the farm will produce enough energy to power to 700,000 homes, and help in eliminating up to 1,290,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year.

During the construction phase the project will create 1,700 jobs while during operation phase it will generate 140 jobs per year through 25 years of operational life.
Navitus Bay project director Stuart Grant said: "Having two companies with such extensive knowledge of the UK offshore wind industry, and the ability to call upon UK supply chain partners across the country, will help to provide valuable expertise to the project going forward.
