Alterra Power Corp. has signed a Resource Development Agreement (RDA) with the Klahoose First Nation to develop the Upper Toba run-of-river hydroelectric project, located in the territory of the Klahoose First Nation, Canada.

The construction and commercial operations of the two new hydro power plants located at Jimmie Creek and the Upper Toba River, generating a cumulatively of 124MW of energy, will be carried out as per the terms of the RDA.
The Upper Toba hydroelectric project is an expansion of an existing agreement of the 235MW Toba Montrose run-of-river hydro facility located in Toba Valley and operated by Alterra.
Klahoose chief James Delorme said, "This agreement between the Klahoose First Nation and Alterra Power builds upon our Toba Montrose agreement and represents another significant milestone for our Nation."
Alterra executive vice chairman Donald McInnes said the company values its relationship with the Klahoose First Nation and is very grateful for Klahoose’s support of run-of-river hydro projects in its traditional territory.

The Upper Toba hydro facility will utilise the infrastructure and power lines of the existing Toba Montrose facility to generate power.
BC Hydro will buy the power generated from the plants and has signed a 40-year power purchase agreement and interconnection agreement.
Alterra Power Corp is a renewable energy company with operating wind farms, geothermal, and hydro facilities.
