EnviTec Biogas, a German firm that provides consolidated services for biogas plant construction, has entered into the Russian market and plans to construct several biogas plants.

The company has partnered with Russian project developer AltEnergo to construct approximately 100 to 150 biogas plants totaling a capacity of 250MWel, mainly in the rural regions around Belgorod and Central Russia.

EnviTec will also invest in Belgorod as part of an agreement with Razvitie Corporation and commission three 2.4 MWel biogas plants at various locations with agricultural operations.

EnviTec Central Europe CEO Hendrik van der Tol stated, "Thanks to the recently concluded agreement between Razvitie Corporation JSC, LLC AltEnergo und EnviTec Biogas AG, on the occasion of which even the governor of the region – Yevgeny Savchenko – was present, EnviTec Biogas is now entering the Russian market for the first time."

Van der Tol also commented that Belgorod is favorable for setting standards as a pilot region for renewable energies in Russia.

Russian farms annually generate about 15 million tons of biological waste including slurry, grain, sunflowers and sugar beets.
