Enel Green Power has begun the construction of new 102MW wind farm in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico.
The Sureste I, Phase II plant, which will include 34 wind turbines of 3MW each, is expected to produce over 350GWh of energy per year.
The construction of the wind farm requires a total investment of around $160m.
In June 2012, Enel Green Power, through Enel Green Power Mexico S. de R.L. de C.V. (formerly Impulsora Nacional de Electricidad S.de R.L. de C.V.), entered into a $100m loan agreement with the financial group BBVA Bancomer. Part of this funding will be spent on construction of the new facility.
In a public tender called by Comision Federal de Electricidad, Enel Green Power was awarded the contract to build the Sureste I, Phase II plant.
The project is associated with a 20-year contract for the purchase of energy generated by the plant. The output will be delivered to the transmission grid through an electrical substation.
