Enbridge and Renewable Energy Systems (RES) Canada has completed the development and construction of 99MW Greenwich Windfarm in Canada.
The Greenwich wind project located in the community of Dorion, Ontario,uses 43 Siemens SWT-2.3 101MW wind turbines to generate 300,000mWh to address the electricity needs of around 34,000 households every year.
Enbridge Green Energy vice president Don Thompson said the company is officially introducing the Greenwich Windfarm to the Dorion community.
"While we completed this project in late 2011, we are pleased to celebrate its official opening today with the citizens of Dorion and members of the local Aboriginal communities, as well as representatives from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and the Canadian Wind Energy Association," Thompson said.
"We’d also like to thank RES Canada for developing and constructing this important energy infrastructure project."

By GlobalDataThe Greenwich wind plant is owned by Enbridge and will be operated by RES Canada.
RES Canada vice president Peter Clibbon said the company will operate the facility through January 2013 to ensure a seamless transition for Enbridge.
"The Greenwich Windfarm demonstrates RES Canada’s robust construction capabilities, and puts a spotlight on the significant knowledge and expertise we offer to our clients," Clibbon said.
RES Canada constructed the project under a fixed price, turnkey, engineering, procurement and construction agreement.
The Ontario Power Authority, under a Renewable Energy Supply III (RES III) 20-year power purchase agreement, has bought all the energy developed by the Greenwich Windfarm.
Enbridge has also announced that the company will contribute annual donation to a Dorion Community Investment fund.
RES Canada is a wholly owned subsidiary of RES Americas and assists in developing renewable energy projects, analyses resource measurement, permitting, financial modeling, technology selection, electrical design, civil engineering, finance, EPC and BOP/BOS construction, operations and maintenance.
Enbridge is a UK based energy delivery company.
