Canadian Solar and the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor, Mortenson Construction, have started work for a 2.5MW photovoltaic (PV) solar project located in Laurinburg, in Scotland County, North Carolina.
The PV solar system will be constructed on a ten-acre site will produce 3,483 megawatt hours of clean electricity every year to power around 300 homes.

Canadian Solar, the owner of the project, will be responsible for the supply solar modules and the delivery of the project whereas Mortenson Construction will design, engineer, and install the equipments.
Canadian Solar commercial and utility-scale markets director Noah Eckert said the Laurinburg solar farm is an important project for the company in the US.
"Canadian Solar’s goal is to support our customers and partners to bring utility-scale projects to completion," Eckert said.
"In that vein, we selected Mortenson Construction, a well-regarded and experienced construction firm focused on delivering the highest quality service, to design and build the project."

By GlobalDataMortenson Renewable Energy Groups general manager and vice president Mark Donahue said the company will work to support North Carolina in achieving its solar power goal.
"It’s great to partner with a globally respected company like Canadian Solar because we know we will be working with top quality products," Donahue said.
The solar project is expected to be completed in December 2012.
