Canada-based energy firm Bullfrog Power has established a partnership with the Sudbury Unlimited eNergy (SUN) Co-operative to develop new solar power plant in Sudbury, Northern Ontario.

As part of the deal, Bullfrog Power will provide finance for the development of a new solar project, through its Bullfrog Builds Renewable Accelerator Program.

Bullfrog noted that SUN Co-operative is negotiating a deal to lease land from Vale for the solar project, which will generate clean and pollution-free solar power.

The new solar power plant will generate about 500 kilowatts of energy that can provide power to about 30 homes, said the Bullfrog.

Bullfrog Power operations senior vice president Ron Seftel said the Bullfrog Builds is all about moving new green energy projects forward.

"SUN Co-operative’s Vale project is Bullfrog Builds’ first in Northern Ontario and we’re excited to be part of a project that not only changes how the land will be used, but also provides an example of what is possible for local, clean power co-ops across Canada," Seftel added.

SUN Co-operative president Arik Theijsmeijer said that Bullfrog Power’s support is essential to the Vale project’s development, as it demonstrates the future of energy in Canada.

"Our goal as a co-op is to involve the community as much as possible, to both join the co-op to have their say, and to invest and benefit from the solar projects we build," Theijsmeijer added.
