Alstom has been selected by two Canadian utilities Hydro-Québec and Manitoba Hydro to provide equipment for three hydro projects.
The contract value is estimated to be €40m.

Alstom will supply runners for two hydro projects, C-1 and C-3 units of the 1,900MW Beauharnois Generating Station located in Melocheville, Quebec.
The Beauharnois Generating Station harnesses power from the St. Lawrence River and is operated by the Hydro-Québec utility.
Alstom will also supply new gates and hoists for the third project-Pointe du Bois Spillway Replacement Project operated by Manitoba Hydro and located next to the Pointe du Bois generating station on the Winnipeg River.
The company’s manufacturing facility North American Hydro will design, produce and deliver a 47MW Francis turbine runner for unit C-1 and will supply five upgraded propeller runners for unit C-3 of Beauharnois Generating Station.

By GlobalDataAlstom North American Hydro business vice president and managing director Claude Lambert said these new investments will ensure that hydro continues providing the country with clean, cost effective, and reliable electricity for years to come.
"Alstom has a long history with Hydro-Québec and Manitoba Hydro and, thanks to our close working partnerships, a very strong understanding of their operational requirements," said Lambert.
The company will deliver unit C-1 in November 2013 and the first runner of the five for unit C-3 is expected to be delivered in 2014.
The company is expected to commission the primary spillway in November 2014 and the secondary spillway in April 2016.
Alstom is a hydropower equipment and service provider.
