Alstom has signed an agreement with NaturEner Energy Canada to supply wind turbines for the Wild Rose Projects in Alberta.
The Wild Rose 1 and 2 projects being developed by NaturEner Energy Canada are located in Cypress county and will have a combined installed capacity of 414MW.
The scope of the agreement includes 138 wind turbines each with a 3MW capacity as well as maintenance services for a 10-year term.
Alstom North American wind business head Andy Geissbuehler remarked that the two companies’ work towards developing efficient and reliable technology solutions to best exploit the site’s wind power potential.
"The project also demonstrates Alstom’s ability to support utilities and independent developers with proven wind power technologies that can support utility scale projects in North America," added Geissbuehler.
The supply contract is valued at a combined €420m and marks Alstom’s entry into the Canadian wind power generation sector.

The Wild Rose 1 and 2 projects will be the largest wind farm in Canada on a combined basis and scheduled to enter commercial operations at the end of 2014 and 2015 respectively.
Pursuant to the developments, NaturEner is in active negotiations on long-term energy and environmental attribute sales from the projects.
The company’s North American portfolio also includes 399MW wind power assets in the US.
