"PEI Energy Corporation has done an excellent job in selecting a turbine that will deliver low-cost, clean energy to its customers," Baker added.

The AW116/3000 turbine with a 116m diameter rotor and optimises performance even in different wind speeds.

The turbine’s 12kV generation technology directly feeds the electricity produced into the collection system and eliminates the need of step-up transformers.

The project is anticipated to become operational by the end of 2013.

The project is being developed in line with the province’s established Energy Accord and its 10 point plan on wind energy.
