WindMW, a subsidiary of Blackstone Energy Partners and Windland Energieerzeugungs has completed the construction of the 288MW wind farm Meerwind Süd ¦Ost, located 23km north of Helgoland, Germany.

The company has completed the construction of the project with the installation of the 80th offshore turbine and a 3,500-tonne offshore converter substation.

Construction on the project began in 2012, and was completed on schedule within 18 months.

The project, which was built with an investment of around €1.2bn, has the capacity to generate clean electricity for around 360,000 households, while offsetting one million tons of carbon emissions per year.

WindMW CEO Jens Assheuer said the completion of the project on schedule and at the highest quality standards is a result of the contributions of all parties involved.

"I would like to thank the project’s investors, staff, suppliers and other stakeholders for their significant commitment and support," Assheuer added.
