Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has secured an order from BWP Eider to supply wind turbines totaling 72.6MW capacity for citizen-owned wind power project at Schleswig-Holstein in Eider, Germany.

Under the terms of the order, Vestas will supply, install and commission 22 V112-3.3MW turbines for the project.

Scope of the order also includes provision of VestasOnline Business SCADA solution along with a 15-year full-scope service.

The company will start delivery of wind turbines in the third quarter of 2014 while the commissioning is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2014.

Eider wind power plant managing directors Marcus Alexander Rolfs and Gerald Grimmer said Vestas provides quick supply, installation and commissioning services for its wind turbines.

"With its efficient full converter technology, it fulfils even the highest grid requirements," Gerald Grimmer added.

Once completed, the wind power project will generate over 190GWh of electricity annually, enough to power over 49,000 German four-person-households.

Vestas Central Europe sales senior vice president Hans Vestergaard said, "Citizen-owned wind power plants is a key part of the particularly strong support for wind power we see especially in northern Germany."

As of 31 December 2013, the company has supplied 937 V112-3.0 MW turbines totaling over 2.8GW capacity globally.
