Vestas has secured a contract from Asja Ambiente Italia to provide wind turbines for two projects to be developed in Italy.

Under the contract, Vestas will supply six V117-3.0MW and nine V117-3.3MW wind turbines to the projects that will be built at Basilicata in the country.

The company will also provide installation and commissioning services and VestasOnline Business SCADA system for the projects, along with a 10-year AOM 5000 service agreement.

Vestas plans to complete the delivery of wind turbines in the third quarter of 2014and intends to commission before the end of 2014.

Both the plants are expected to generate around 140,000MWh of clean energy per year, which can provide electricity to about 120,000 people in Italy.

Asja Ambiente Italia CEO Alessandro Casale said the company is the first one to be operating Vestas V117-3.0 and V117-3.3 MW turbines in Italy.

Vestas Italia general manager Rainer Karan said the company has signed two new contracts with Asja, after renewing a 56MW service contract for the next ten years.

"Our long-lasting partnership dates back to 2003 when Asja first installed a wind power plant in Sicily and we are glad to offer our new 3 MW platform variants for Asja’s new wind power plants," Karan added.
