Vestas has received a firm and unconditional order from TaxWay, the Uruguayan subsidiary of Spain-based Cobra group, to provide 16 V126-3.3MW turbines for 53MW Vientos de Pastorale wind farm in Uruguay.
To be located in the country’s Villa Pastora, situated in the southwestern province of Flores, the proposed wind farm is expected to produce 223GWh of power annually, enough to supply electricity to around 50,000 households in Uruguay per year.
The order includes supply, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines as well as a 10-year Active Output Management (AOM) 4000 service agreement, with delivery scheduled in the third quarter of this year.
Commissioning of the facility is expected by the first quarter of next year.
Vestas Mediterranean president Marco Graziano said: "With 344 MW already installed and around 170 MW under construction, Vestas leads Uruguay’s wind energy industry with approximately 35 percent market share.
"Vientos de Pastorale will be the second project that Vestas signs with Cobra and we look forward to putting our expertise and cutting-edge technologies at the disposal of such a valued partner."
