Multinational energy group Siemens has won an order to build Blue Energy’s 53MW Blackcraig Hill onshore wind power plant in Scotland, UK.
The facility, which is situated in the Scottish council area of Dumfries and Galloway, will be equipped with 23 wind turbines of Siemens’ G2 portfolio.
The deal includes a 20-year service agreement and the plant is scheduled to be commissioned in 2017.
Previously, Siemens was involved in Blue Energy’s 21MW Middlewick project, located in Dengie peninsula and was completed in 2014.

For the proposed Blackcraig Hill facility, Siemens’ SWT-2.3-93 turbine, with a rotor diameter of 93m, will generate energy from the strong and steady winds blown in the Irish Sea.
The company noted that local employees will be engaged during the construction of the plant and once completed it will create service and maintenance jobs in the area.
Over 35,000 houses are expected to receive clean energy from the plant and as part of its community benefit initiative, the company will contribute an annual sum of around €7,000 per MW capacity to be generated from the plant’s revenue.
Blue Energy CEO Christopher Dean said: "Both the proven performance of the G2 platform and the specific characteristics of the site itself made the SWT-2.3-93 the clear choice for us."
Last November, Siemens won a contract to deliver 126MW of capacity to three onshore wind power plants in Scotland.
