Siemens Energy has secured a contract to supply wind turbines for Holzacker-Knorburg community wind power plant project located in northern Germany.

Under the terms of the contract, the company will supply seven Siemens SWT-3.0-113 direct-drive wind turbines for the project.

Scope of the contract also includes provision of service and maintenance within the framework of a twenty-year service agreement.

According to Siemens, each turbine to be supplied for the Holzacker-Knorburg wind project will have a rotor diametre of 113m and a hub height of 92.5m.

With the turbines, the project will be able to extract energy at high efficiency even at low and medium wind speeds, said the company.

For the project, Siemens will begin delivery and installation of the wind turbines totaling 21MW generation capacity in early summer 2014.

The company will also provide extended warranty on all major components as part of of its 20-year service programme.
