Siemens has signed an agreement with Cape Wind to fabricate, supply, install and commission 3.6MW offshore wind turbines and an offshore electric service platform (ESP) for the 468MW wind farm in the US.
The scope of the agreement also includes provision of maintenance services for the wind turbines and ESP for a period of 15 years.

Siemens will carry project management for the project from its Boston office; the ESP scope of work from its Transmission operations in Cary, North Carolina; and long-term maintenance program from its Americas headquarters in Orlando, Florida.
The company is subcontracting the ESP manufacturing to Cianbro, which will be fabricated in its facility in Brewer, Maine.
Siemens Energy president and CEO Randy Zwirn said the company is delighted to be the supplier for America’s first-ever offshore wind farm.
